The Art Of Shooting take TRAVELING SHOW to West Coast / Opening for Bettie Serveert
Brooklyn’s THE ART OF SHOOTING hit the West Coast next week for the first time since the release of their debut full-length, TRAVELING SHOW. Following intimate performances at Rockwood Music Hall’s Stage 2 and an “incredibly tight” CMJ showcase, Kelly Irene Corson & THE ART OF SHOOTING does a benefit performance at National Underground on Nov 2nd and opens a show at Maxwell’s with one of her first band crushes Bettie Serveert on Nov 3rd.
“When I was 21,” exclaims Corson, “I would drive around Detroit screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs just as loud as I do today. In fact, when we formed this band, the only artist all of us had in common was Bettie Serveert.” After that the band heads west and takes the TRAVELING SHOW from LA up to Seattle through November.
The Big Takeover asserts, “The Art of Shooting teases the line between angst and placid, resulting in a form of tension acts like Sonic Youth revel in,” and Time Out NY attests, “Art-punk outfit The Art of Shooting plays spacey, shimmering rock songs accented by the elegant vocals of lead singer Kelly Irene Corson.”
Earlier this year, Kelly Irene took some time to talk to NPR about “Being A Woman Musician Today,” and told a story to BLURT involving, “A pet rabbit, a spaz dog and a cleavage-loving baby chick.”
Whether front-woman Kelly Irene Corson is singing about tough childhood memories, a kidnapping or abusive adult relationships, “She revisits all the nervy pressure points that made Siouxsie and the Banshees and its splinter group The Creatures so damn enjoyable,” applauds Under The Radar.
